Michael H. Jensen was first elected to the Salt Lake County Council in 2000 to represent Salt Lake County Council District Two, he has since been re-elected in 2004 and 2008 to serve additional four-year terms. Michael has served three terms as Chairman of the Salt Lake County Council. He serves on the following boards; Redevelopment Agency, Central Utah Water Conservancy District, Council of Governments and Wasatch Front Regional Council. On the Wasatch Front Regional Council as well as on the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, Michael also serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
In addition to being a part-time Councilman, Michael is the Chief of Unified Fire Authority. Michael is also a certified Paramedic and Hazardous Materials Technician. Prior to his work as Chief, Michael served as the Deputy Fire Chief, Public Information Officer and a Firefighter/Paramedic. He is especially proud of his work as a member of Utah Task Force 1, Urban Search and Rescue team and their deployment to the World Trade Center 9-11 tragedy. Michael has been an employee of Unified Fire Authority for 13 years.
Michael has a broad range of Education. He has two degrees from the University of Utah including Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science; as well as Two certifications in Public Administration and International Relations. He has completed course work for an Associate of Science degree from Utah Valley University as a Fire Paramedic. Michael has also received two Fire Leadership Certificates from the University of Utah. He has completed his four year course work at the National Fire Academy in the Executive Fire Officer program. He has completed the Harvard Fire Fellowship program at Harvard University. Michael was one of eight picked from two hundred applicants to be accepted into this prestigious program.
Michael enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to Stacie Jensen and is the proud father of four boys and a girl, Mick, Ryan, Josh, Kendyll and Jake. He currently resides with his family in Magna. He also enjoys coaching his boys in baseball, football and basketball.
